Documenting Breastfeeding: Islamic Sharia and the Law

Abstract

Breastfeeding (nursing) is of such significance that a marriage contract cannot be considered valid unless it is properly regulated and documented, to prevent the contract from being void. Relying on memory, which is subject to forgetfulness and confusion, is not sufficient to prove breastfeeding. The legislature must therefore ensure that it is documented in a clear and unambiguous manner, especially for one of the most important contracts, the marriage contract.
